This course will provide a background in the theory of international relations with a significant focus on the policies and role of the United States. The course can be broken down into three components: The first is the theory, history and basic concepts behind international relations and United States foreign policy. The second component is to study current international issues allowing students to shape and define their own ideas about the world today. Finally, the course will conclude with three case studies of current United States policy, with the goal of students who are informed about the world, having critically assessed many of the major policy hurdles the United States faces today.
